We only had 2 days holiday in Melbourne, yet we had 2 meals at the Parrot House. The first time we came in by chance for dinner. It was 9pm so there was no wait. Our orders came out fairly quickly, and they were all delicious and fresh considering it was the end of the day. The staffs were friendly and patient to us as well.We came back again for lunch the next day, and to our surprise, the lunch menu was really diverse. All our dishes were very fulfilling and reasonably priced. Great environment too since we chose the less busy period (2-3pm). For both visits, we finished our meals with the pineapple fritter ice-cream - it was divine for a sweet-tooth.Overall we were super happy. You’d get tasty, fulfilling, genuine Asian dishes without hurting your wallet :).
A must visit place for Chinese cuisine . Owner and staff are friendly and attentive . We order mud crab in xo sauce noodle stir fries every time we visit Parrot House . Their homemade bean curd are a must order dish as well
Parrot is a hidden gem known only to the locals where the best roast duck in Melbourne can be found. The kitchen is very well organised consistently delivering restaurant grade Cantonese dishes. It is a busy place but the owner always finds time to have a chat, reminiscent of the good old days. A must visit.
To avoid disappointment, I recommend you call ahead and book a table. We arrived to a very long line of people waiting for a table, however we had a booking and were seated after a few minutes. It makes perfect sense that this place is popular. The food is just authentic and cooked to perfection.Since it was a special occasion, we ordered the lobster with egg noodles. The server showed us the live lobster they would use and it tasted extremely fresh. Our favourite dishes that we order every visit are:Salt and Pepper Chicken RibsTofu and vegetable stir fryMongolian BeefSea cucumber and mushroom3 roasts - duck, roast pork, bbq porkSalted fish and chicken fried riceAll came to around 470.We had an additional serve of chicken ribs and roast meats. There was 7 of us and we were extremely full in the end with three containers of leftovers to enjoy the next day.Highly recommended. One of the best Chinese restaurants ever.
Saturday quick dinner. Very busy but food came quit quick! We had Peking duck pancake, seafood crisp egg noodle, Pippi with XO sauce. All food was tasty and good quantity.
What a pleasant surprise to find such a gem in Flemington! We were looking for a quick dinner, knowing nothing about the restaurant we decided to give it a go.Classic old school Cantonese food that is just so comforting. The roast meats were juicy with light crispy skin. Crispy noodles is one of my favs and it certainly hit the spot. We were in and out within 30 mins.Ordered:- Mixed roast meats 34- Crocodile fried noodles 20Price: Skeptical going in because there is no menu out front but was surprised that everything was reasonably priced. Good value considering the size and quality!Service: Quick and efficient.Venue: Fairly large restaurant with plenty of seating. Was I full? Yes! Fab dinner.
I come here regularly for my lunch! 15.50 for the 2 roasts on rice is a delicious winner! Meat quality is great and everything else in the picture is done well.
Best duck I have eaten in a long time. The meat was cooked to perfection very moist and not chewy at all inside. This was our first time eating at Parrot House Restaurant as it was recommended to us by a friend and it didn't disappoint at all!People were lining up to buy boxes full of ducks the other dishes we tried were also very nice.Come here if you miss the real taste of Canton / Hong Kong style food!
